Jon DePreter has been an exhibiting artist for 27 years. He has
shown his work nationwide in a wide variety of mediums. For a list
of selected exhibitions and awards please go to the resume.

For the last 8 years the artist has worked mostly in wood, using
carving and grinding tools to shape his sculptures. The wood employed
includes Eastern White Pine, redwood and cedar. The resulting pieces
range in size from 24" tall to 80" tall.

The work from this period is roughly divided into 3 parts. These include
the "Small Town" pieces, the "Go Forth" series and the "Aestivation" series.

The "Small Town " series includes representations of children, teenagers
and adults in the artist's hometown. "Go forth" are jointed and moveable,
cartoon-like images drawn from the artist's imagination. "Aestivation" are
wall carvings of composite portraits in a more anatomical and classical style.

The artist also does portraits by commission.
